How should I care for my original watercolor painting?

Caring for a watercolor painting is quite simple, but can easily go wrong. I recommend displaying or storing the painting in a dry environment, to avoid moisture or humidity. If you do display the painting, avoid direct sunlight to preserve the colors of the painting.

Are your paintings varnished or protected?

Watercolors usually do not need any sort of varnishing or fixative, unlike oil or other dry mediums, as it shines best when it’s left without them. However, because watercolor can tend to stain to the touch a little, I do apply a spray fixative to avoid the surface getting damaged in the packaging and in studio. I do recommend touching the painted area the bare minimum to avoid damage and skin oiliness to smudge it.

What’s the best way to display or frame your work?

When you purchase an original artwork, it will either be a loose sheet of watercolor paper or a watercolor board. Occasionally, I might find a frame that I like a add the painting to it, in which case I’ll sell it with the frame included. This means the price will include the frame. If the painting is a loose sheet of watercolor paper, it means it will be sent within a tube, carefully wrapped and protected. If it is a watercolor board, it will be packaged accordingly. The same if it includes a frame. Always check the paintings specifics when purchasing.

I recommend a UV protection glass and materials that are acid free, when finding a frame for your painting.
